With A Little Help From My Friends – I by dj ShmeeJay
Below are notes on Soundcloud from the dj:
For the past some moths I have marveled at all the many talented edit artists that not only sharing their talents, but also are hard at work keeping music of by gone eras alive and well. To support their efforts I thought of putting together a few mixes highlighting various artists’ work. Kicking things off, this set is built around the work of Disco Tech, a Stockholm, Sweden, based producer and dj, with an obvious ear for really classic tunes.
Have a listen. With a little help from my friends, this set of tunes brings it home…

Lettuce Turnip the Beet by dj ShmeeJay
Last time I wrote a little thing on cooking and music. Along those lines, I’ve been talking to our local Farmer’s Market about playing there one Saturday.I’m just not as interested in playing in sweaty bars, as I am playing some place where little kids are running around. The Farmer’s Market is a little skeptical, however, wanting more fiddles and guitars, not beats. Not an odd sentiment by any stretch, considering the rural town in the US that I reside in, but what do I do?Keep pushing and keep playing good music is what. While I wait for them to turn around I put this set together.
So to make it interesting, here’s what I suggest.Next Saturday head down to your local Farmer’s Market and pick up yourselves a batch of fresh, locally grown, organic vegetables. When you get home, get situated in the kitchen and turn this music on.Whenever you cook, it’s better to do it with and for someone, so get to the cooking together. By the time the music is finished, chances are that you’ve only made it so far as to start making out on the couch, while something is burning on the stove. But who really cares, when all you have to do is start it over again, and when the process really is that good.
